Two-wheeler maker Piaggio has introduced its new maxi scooter Aprilia SXR 125 in the Indian market. Although no official announcement has been made by the company, Piaggio’s website has been updated with the new scooter, which can be booked by paying a refundable token money of Rs 5,000.
The scooter comes with a price tag of Rs 1,14,994 (ex-showroom, Pune) and Rs 1,16,358 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Piaggio has launched this scooter with red, white, blue, and black color options.
Aprilia SXR 125 is a smaller version of SXR 160, launched in December last year. Both the scooters come with a sporty look and attractive design.
Engine and power
The company has used a 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine in this scooter that generates a maximum power of 9.4bhp at 7,600rpm and 9.2Nm torque at 6,250rpm. The engine is mated to a CVT gearbox. This scooter has 12-inch alloy wheels fitted with tubeless tyres, while the SXR 160 scooter has 14-inch wheels.
Specifications
Aprilia SXR 125 has a front storage compartment, 7 litre fuel tank, USB charging port, LCD dashboard, better space seat storage a digital instrument panel with Bluetooth connectivity, and a large display of all rider information. It has a full-LED lighting setup that is still a premium feature to have in Indian scooters. The scooter also has a tall windscreen and a lockable front storage compartment.
In the front, it has a 220MM disc brake and a 140MM brake on the rear tires. along with CBS (Combined Braking System) with conventional telescopic forks and monoshock. The price of the SXR 160 scooter in the market is 1.27 lakh rupees. Piaggio scooter will be competing with Suzuki Burgman Street 125.
