The notion that utility vehicles constitute bulk of Maruti Suzuki India’s (MSI) sales is false! Yes! Off-late, this segment is driving MSI’s sales! But, compact cars still constitute bulk of the Japanese automobile manufacturer’s PV sales.
In Aug’23, the automotive company sold 72,451 units of compact vehicles which comprised 46 per cent share of overall sales. While, MSI could only sell 58,746 units of Utility vehicles in the same month which comprised 37.63 per cent of overall sales. Rest of the sales came from other segments like small vehicles and mid-sized sedan Ciaz.
Small cars constituted only 7.82 per cent share of total sales in Aug’23. Maruti sold 12,209 units of small cars and 849 units of mid-sized sedan, Ciaz, in the same month.
Utility vehicles sales of Maruti Suzuki India have definitely jacked up but this segment still does not comprise bulk of its total sales.
