Renault India launched the new Kiger in India on Monday by stepping into the most demanded segment. Renault Kiger is the latest addition to the subcompact SUV market segment. It will be available at a starting price of Rs 5.45 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant which is similar to the price of Nissan Magnite. The top variant of the new SUV has been priced at Rs 9.55 lakh.
The bookings for the Renault Kiger also commence from today across the dealership network of more than 500 sales outlets across the country. Customers can also book the new SUV on the Renault India website.
The SUV will be available in six colours including Caspian Blue, Radiant Red, Moonlight Silver, Planet Grey, Ice Cool White, Mahogany Brown with dual-tone options across the range. The choice of dual-tone is available at an additional ₹17,000 on all variants. Renault KIGER will be available in four trims – RXE, RXL, RXT, RXZ. LED DRLs

Highlighting Renault kigar’s specifications, it measures .99 m long, 1.75 m wide, and 1.6 m tall. its wheelbase is 2,500 mm. The crossover has a 405-litre boot and a 40-litre fuel tank. The ground clearance is 205 mm. It gets a winged front grille and split LED headlamp set up at the front. It gets a C-shaped tail lamp unit, spoilers with gloss black inserts, and a roof spoiler.
On the inside, the Kiger comes equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit that has voice recognition and is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car also gets a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, PM 2.5 air filter, hands-free smart access card, and a parking camera. Renault claims that the Kiger offers 222 mm of legroom for rear-seat passengers.
The Kiger is powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 99 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and 160 Nm @ 2,800-3,600 rpm. It is also offered with a naturally aspirated 1.0-litre petrol motor producing 71 BHP @ 6,250 rpm and 96 Nm @ 3,500 rpm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, 5-speed CVT (Turbo-Petrol only) and a 5-speed AMT (NA Petrol only). In the CVT version, peak torque of the 1.0L turbo-petrol engine is restricted to 152 Nm @ 2,200-4,400 rpm.
The Kiger will give extremely tough competition in this category with rivals such as the Kia Sonet, Ford EcoSport, Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
