IIT Delhi-incubated startup Geliose Mobility has launched an electric scooter ‘HOPE’, which claims to reduce the travel cost to just 20 paise per kilometre.
The e-scooter is powered by a 250W BLDC hub motor that can propel the e-scooter to a max speed of 25kmph. There are three lithium-ion battery options, 18Ah, 24Ah, and 30Ah that can deliver a range of up to 75km on a single charge. Charging the battery to 80% takes a little over three hours while a full charge is possible in four hours.
The battery pack is detachable and comes with Bluetooth connectivity for accurate data logging and protection. From fleet management and geofencing to data monitoring and analytics, the Gelios ‘HOPE’ gets a host of connectivity features. Other features include LED lighting, an LCD instrument console, and parking assist with reverse mode.
Geliose aims to cater primarily to delivery-oriented businesses, and hence, it has a barebone design with a couple of luggage mounting options for different businesses. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks and dual shocks, while braking is taken care of by drum brakes at both ends.
‘HOPE’ has a sleek body, with a strong and lightweight frame built for ultra-modern usage. The lean structure gives the ability to easily move through dense traffic. The vehicle has a revolutionary slide and rides features that allow riders to attach different load-carrying accessories or rear seat depending on the requirement.
The electric scooter is also equipped with a pedal system (similar to TVS Luna from back in the day) that a rider can use to commute if the battery dies out. Right now, the e-scooter is available for last-mile delivery applications only. Bookings for personal commuters will begin after a few months.
You can either lease the e-scooter for Rs 2,999 per month or buy it at Rs 46,999. The Geliose ‘HOPE’ is currently on sale only in Delhi and is expected to be available in other cities by the end of this year. At its price, it is one of the most affordable IoT-equipped e-scooters and it is pitted against Okinawa Dual, Detel Easy Plus and Hero Electric Nyx.
It has also qualified for the discount category available for e-vehicles from the government. Driving license is not required for riding this e-scooter.
