Aadhaar number is one of the valid KYC (Know Your Customer) requirements to open a bank account. But linking Aadhaar number with bank account is not mandatory for the general public.
Only if anybody wants to derive benefits of government schemes like LPG subsidy does linking Aadhaar number with bank account becomes mandatory. Otherwise, you may be unable to get the money credited to your bank account.
Therefore, it is very important for a beneficiary of a government scheme to know whether his or her Aadhaar is linked with a bank account or not.
The entire process has become very easy now. One can check whether the two are linked through UIDAI. To get this benefit, linking of phone number with Aadhaar number is a primary condition.
‘Do you want to check your Aadhaar Bank Linking Status? You can do it online if your mobile number is linked with your Aadhaar. Check your Aadhaar Bank Linking Status by clicking on this link’, UIDAI said on twitter.
With this tweet, UIDAI also shared a direct link where anyone can check Aadhaar-Bank account linking status.
