Are you a pensioner? Get life certificate from your nearest post office now

With India Post announcing the facility of issuing this certificate at their local branch office, one can avoid going to the Pension Disbursing Agency

The Post Office, in a social media post, said that senior citizens could now easily avail the benefit of Jeevan Praman services at the nearest post office CSC counter.

There is good news for all the central and state government pensioners. The India Post recently announced a special facility for senior citizens that will enable them to get Life Certificate or Jeevan Pramaan from the nearest post office. This move will benefit more than 60 lakh pensioners across India. All pensioners under EPS-95 (Employees Pension Scheme-1995) must submit Jeevan Pramaan Patra (JPP)/Digital Life Certificate (DLC) each year to continue drawing a pension. This is to ensure that your employer doesn’t continue disbursing the monthly pension even after the death of a pensioner.

Now these govt pensioners need not visit their banks or employer to get this document. The Post Office, in a social media post, said that senior citizens could now easily avail the benefit of Jeevan Praman services at the nearest post office CSC counter.

Initially, in order to get this life certificate, citizens drawing the pension were required to either personally present oneself before the Pension Disbursing Agency or have the Life Certificate issued by authority where they have served earlier and have it delivered to the disbursing agency.

With India Post announcing the facility of issuing this certificate at their local branch office, one can avoid going to the Pension Disbursing Agency or the previous employer to initiate a request to issue the certificate.

Meanwhile, those individuals who find it difficult to visit the post office can simply pay a visit to the nearest Jeevan Pramaan Centre and get Digital Life Certificate as well. This is a biometric-enabled digital service for Indian pensioners.

You can identify the nearest location of a Jeevan Pramaan center by sending a text message to 7738299899. Type ‘JPL< YOUR PIN Code> ‘ and send it across. You will soon get a list of Jeevan Pramaan centers nearest to the PIN code mentioned. After reviewing the list, you can pick a Jeevan Pramaan center and get your Digital Life Certificate.

Documents required to get your annual life certiifcate include Aadhaar Number, registered mobile number, Pension Payment Order(PPO) number, Account number and name of the Pension Sanctioning Authority. One needs to provide biometric authetication as well. Your Jeevan Pramaan is then generated with a unique ID called Pramaan ID for future reference.
