The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issues a list of holidays every month when banks remain shut. As per the holiday calendar released by RBI, private and public sector banks will be shut for 12 days in the month of December including Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays.

These holidays may vary from state to state. While customers will be able to access online banking services, they will not be able to take any service at bank branches on these days.

There is only one national holiday that is December 25, where banks across the country will be shut.

December 5: First Sunday

December 11: Second Saturday

December 12: Second Sunday

December 18: Death anniversary of U SoSo Tham, banks will remain closed in Meghalaya

December 19: Third Sunday

December 24: Christmas eve, banks will remain closed in Meghalaya and Mizoram.

December 25: Fourth Saturday and Christmas, banks across the country will be closed

December 26: Sunday

December 27: Christmas celebration, banks will be closed in Mizoram

December 30: Death anniversary of U Kiang Nangbah, banks will remain closed in Meghalaya

December 31: New year’s eve, banks closed in Mizoram
