Public sector banks have seen a great transformation in the last couple of years. More and more weak banks are merging with strong ones. If you were a customer of the banks which have merged into stronger ones, you need to get your documents changed since those are getting invalid. The same would be applicable with the customers of erstwhile Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) and United Bank of India (UBI), as these banks have been merged with Punjab National Bank (PNB). The principal requirement will be for a new chequebook since the old ones will not be valid anymore.
From October 1, customers of erstwhile OBC and UBI won’t be able to make any transaction through the old cheque books. They have to replace it with PNB cheques. You have less than three weeks in your hand to replace the old cheque book.
“The old cheque book of eOBC and eUNI are going to be discontinued from October 1, 2021. Please replace your old cheque book of e-OBC and e-UNI with the PNB cheque book with updated PNB IFSC and MICR,” PNB tweeted.

Besides, the bank also sent multiple SMS to the customers to collect the new cheque book as soon as possible from the branch itself.
Customers can request for new cheque books through ATMs, internet banking and also with the help of PNB call centers too.
A customer can get the new cheque book from the home branch or apply through PNB ONE app. All customers have to use new PNB cheque book with updates PNB IFSC and MICR only from October 1 onward to avoid any inconvenience in future.
One can contact PNB’s toll-free number 1800-180-2222 for any assistance or query regarding the new cheque book or anything else, the bank said.
