For the current quarter, provisions and contingencies increased to Rs 3, 924.70 crore as against Rs 3,703.50 crore in the same quarter, the previous year.
HDFC Bank on Wednesday said that it has issued a record 4 lakh new credit cards after the Reserve Bank of India lifted its bank on the country’s largest private sector lender last month. The bank has been increasingly ramping up its credit card acquisition since then the given numbers mark the aggressive growth path it has charted, to re-invent and co-create the credit cards portfolio with strong products and partnerships, post the embargo.

The bank will increase its pace on ramping up its credit card acquisition and will look to regain the lost market soon, Group Head of Payments, Consumer Finance, Digital Banking & IT at HDFC Bank, Parag Rao said.
He also said that the bank is all set to disrupt the industry with its best-in class cards across customer segments and achieve record high acquisition across segments.
He said that in such a short span of time, the bank has exceeded 4 lakh new card issuances by the end of September and has ever since the embargo was lifted, the bank would like to increase the pace of the acquisition.
Rao said that to his mind, this is a very important milestone and also believe it is the largest in the industry in a very short time and will have a continuous growth strategy moving forward.
