Losing a debit card can be a big problem and it is necessary to block the card as soon as possible. Now, State Bank of India customers can block their debit card and reissue a new one with just one phone call. The public sector lender has a toll-free IVR system through which customers can block and reissue debit card in a hassle-free manner.
All you have to do is call on the toll-free IVR system of SBI from your registered phone number. The toll-free IVR number is number – 1800 112 211 and 1800 425 3800.
Once the call is connected, you need to press 0 for blocking your card. After that customers need to press 1 to block the card using their registered mobile number and card number. Customers can also block their card using account number by pressing 2.
If you pressed 1, you would have to enter the last five digits of the ATM card. Then you can confirm it by again pressing 1. A blocking confirmation message will be sent to the customer’s registered mobile number via SMS.
Once you have blocked your card, you can also apply for a replacement card. Customers can press 1 again to apply for a replacement card. Once you have done that, you must enter the year you were born. The card will be sent yo your registered address and card replacement charges will be applicable. You can confirm this by pressing 1 or cancel the process by pressing 2.
