At a time when the second surge of Covid-19 infections are driving people indoors and an increasing number of states imposing lockdown or lockdown-like conditions, the country’s largest bank State Bank of India (SBI) is offering an online facility of transferring his/her account to the nearest branch.
While earlier this required a visit to the branch and submission of applications, now it can be done in a minute or so through online, mobile banking or YONO app.
Step 1: Open SBI internet banking onlinesbi.com.
Step 2: Enter your user id, password and captcha before hitting the Login button.
Step 3: In the dashboard, click on E-services option.
Step 4: From the new page, click on the Transfer savings account option
Step 5: On the new page a form will open. Select your account number which you want to transfer.
Step 6: Enter the branch code of SBI where you want to transfer the account and then click on Get Branch Name button.
Step 7: Click on ‘I accept terms and conditions’ at the bottom of the form and then click on the Submit button.
Step 8: On the new page, check the details you entered and click on the Confirm button.
Step 9: You will now get an OTP in your phone via SMS. Enter this OTP and click on the Confirm button.
Step10: Your request is now submitted. Wait for a maximum period of seven working a few days for your account to be transferred to the new SBI branch.
Step 1: Login to SBI YONO mobile app and tap on Services
Step 2: Then tap and open Transfer of Saving Account option
Step 3: In the next screen, select your account number, enter your new branch code and tap on Get Branch name
Step 4: Now you can see the name of the new branch. Select it
Step 5: In the next screen review the details and finally submit your request
After submitting the online request for online transfer, your account will be transferred to the new branch within 7 working days. IFSC will also be changed.
To know whether the changes have been done, log into net baking or mobile banking app YONO after 7 days and check the status.
