Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all banks and financial institutions have taken multiple steps to make banking a more seamless process for citizens. In line with this, State Bank of India (SBI) has introduced the facility of submission of life certificate for those who draw their pension through SBI through video calling from the comfort of their homes from November 1, 2021.
Money9 gives you a 9-step guide on how pension holders can use this facility:
Step 1- First log on to the SBI pension seva website, i.e. www.pensionseva.sbi
Step 2- Then you will get ‘Video Life Certificate or VLC’ section and click the option.
Step 3- A new window will open, put SBI pension account number in the designated place.
Step 4- You will receive a OTP in your register mobile number. Put the number in the specific place and proceed.
Step 5- Then click ‘I am ready’ option and keep your PAN card ready in your hand.
Step 6- Bank will ask your permission to start a video call. Click ‘OK’.
Step 7- An SBI official will be shortly available and start conversation with you or you can schedule to make a meeting later in the day.
Step 8- Once the meeting has started, you will get a 4-digit code on your screen. Tell that code to the bank official.
Step 9- Then show your PAN card, the SBI official will take PAN card’s live photo as well as yours. And the process will be completed.

If an individual faces any problem during the process, SBI will inform within due time. Otherwise, he or she can visit the dedicated pension branch for any clarification and submit the life certificate in person too.
This facility will be in place from November 1, 2021. SBI also tweeted it on Friday.
“This move will help senior citizens in these tough times. Hope other banks will also follow SBI,” said Saibal Biswas, a personal finance expert.
