Residents of Delhi will soon get relief from high ride fares levied during surge pricing by ride hailing cabs like Ola and Uber. According to media reports, the Delhi government is in process of bringing a policy according to which ride hailing cabs will not be able to charge high fares from citizens during peak hours. Mostly peak time is applicable between 7 to 11 am and 5 to 8 pm or late night.
Currently, companies like Ola, Uber, etc are allowed to double the ride fair during peak hours. But the Arvind Kejriwal government is in a process of removing this provision of surge pricing.
Removal of surge pricing will provide commuters relief from paying high ride fares at the time of booking cabs during peak hours.
Apart from this, Delhi government is also looking to ban sharing of cabs by citizens in the national capital.
