March CPI Inflation falls to 15 months low of 5.66%

Vegetable inflation in March, 2023 fell to -8.51%. Oil and fats inflation came at -7.86%. Both rural and urban inflation have fallen to lower than 6%.

The CPI inflation fell for second month in a row in March, 2023. It fell to 15 month low of 5.66% in March, 2023. On the back of low inflation in vegetables, oil and fats and meat and fish, retail inflation has cooled-off. Vegetable inflation fell to -8.51%. Oil and fats inflation came at -7.86%.
Both rural and urban inflation have fallen to lower than 6%. Rural inflation came in at 5.51%. While, urban inflation fell to 5.89%.

Ritika Chhabra, Quant Macro Strategist at Prabhudas Lilladher PMS said, “Broad base softening of prices has contributed to fall in inflation, which is a good news. We are expecting inflation to fall below 5% in Q1 FY24 due to base effect.”
