Covid-19: Drive-in vaccination facility for elderly, differently abled opens in Mumbai
To help senior citizens and the physically challenged get vaccinated with a bit more ease, the BMC has started a drive-in facility, in which one can take the jab while sitting inside their cars.
Mumbai has opened its first drive-in vaccination center in Dadar today, for senior citizens and people with disabilities. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started this facility to speed fast the vaccination process among the section of society that finds it a challenge to go to the vaccination centers.
Ease vaccination among the elderly and differently-abled
To help senior citizens and the physically challenged get vaccinated with a bit more ease, the BMC has started a drive-in facility, in which one can take the jab while sitting inside their cars. This is to reduce the discomfort and issue caused to senior citizens while waiting in a long, crowded queue to get the jab.
Located in Dadar, Mumbai
The vaccination centre is located in Dadar West, at the Kohinoor public parking centre. About 200 people can use the drive-in facility and get vaccinated in a day.
BMC’s plan
Kiran Dighavkar, assistant commissioner of the Dadar area has said that the facility has the capacity to inoculate 5,000 beneficiaries per day across seven booths. Out of the seven booths, two of these are reserved for drive-ins.
The parking lot has enough space for 60 to 70 vehicles to queue up for the two booths, Dighavkar has said. A registration stall will also be set up, but beneficiaries will be registered by staff at the centre as they wait in the queue.
Earlier today, BMC had tweeted about the drive-in facility started in Dadar, Mumbai
