In the view of the rising second wave of Covid-19 infections, the national capital is once again under strict restrictions. The Delhi Chief Minister on Monday announced a lockdown with effect from 10 pm, 19 April 2021 till 26 April 2021. The rules and regulations for this week’s lockdown are the same as they were for the weekend curfew, which was imposed earlier by the Delhi government. The essential services and activities will be allowed as usual during the 6-day lockdown period, however, any unnecessary movement and roaming around is strictly prohibited.
The recent restrictions imposed in Delhi have also created an air of confusion, among people, whether it is a lockdown or curfew. Although Arvind Kejriwal mentioned the word ‘Lockdown’ in the press conference held yesterday. There is a difference between the two because of the rules and regulations.
What is a curfew?
Curfew is usually imposed in the worst of situations.
People are not allowed to move out of their homes.
Schools, colleges, and markets are shut in a curfew.
Only essential services are allowed in a curfew.
People are instructed to stay at their homes.
There may be imprisonment or a fine if anyone is found disobeying the curfew.
There is a lock on banks and markets too.
What is a Lockdown?
Lockdown is an emergency system imposed by local authorities in which necessary services are allowed. Many states and districts are under lockdown but necessary services such as a bank, dairy, medicine, fruits, and vegetables are available.
People are requested to stay at their homes until necessary.
