India has been witnessing a steady rise in the number of COVID-19 cases for over a month. Delhi recorded 11,491 COVID-19 cases on Monday, the highest single-day surge in the national capital till date, while 72 more people died due to the disease, according to data shared by the health department. The positivity rate rose to 12.44 per cent from 9.43 per cent a day ago.
Night Curfew in Haryana
Haryana recorded the sharpest single-day spike of 3,818 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday that took the state’s tally to 3,20,699, while 14 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 3,282, a health department bulletin said. Among the districts that reported a big spike in cases are Gurgaon with 1,132 cases, followed by 472 in Faridabad, 327 in Karnal, 228 in Sonipat, 224 in Panchkula and 180 in Hisar. The state government has imposed night curfew from 9pm to 5am with immediate effect to contain the spread of the virus.
More than 51,000 fresh COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra
The worst affected state of Maharashtra reported 51,751 fresh coronavirus cases, a day after logging the highest 63,294 infections, while 258 people died, the state health department said.

The makers of Remedisvir have said that they are under immense political pressure for supplies. Hetero Healthcare and Kamala Pharmaceuticals, the largest companies producing Remedisvir injections in India, have said that they are rejecting the demand for injections by corporators, MLAs and MPs.
UP reports 13,685 fresh COVID-19 cases
The COVID-19 tally in Uttar Pradesh rose to 7,05,619 on Monday with 13,685 fresh cases, while 72 more fatalities, highest single-day toll this month, pushed the death toll in the state to 9,224, an official said. At present, there are 81,576 active cases in the state, while 6,14,819 patients have recovered from the infection so far.
