The Covid-19 second wave is proving to be deadlier than the first wave and the situation has become so critical that people are using social media platforms to reach out to the right people for Covid resources. Sometimes, the information shared on these platforms lack authenticity, which takes a lot of time for the people who are in an emergency situation.
To provide authentic and verified leads regarding Covid resources, SIIC IIT Kanpur team has launched a website, seeking to save lives by vetting and giving legitimate information. Announcing the same, Abhay Karandikar, director, IIT Kanpur tweeted, “Team @IncubatorIITK @IITKanpur is delighted to inform everyone that we have built a website https://indiacovidsupport.com to provide the authentic & verified leads related to various supplies required by families suffering with #Covid19 infections.”
The #secondwave of #COVID19 has hit the entire nation quite strongly. One of the consequences of the ongoing #pandemic is unavailability of vetted information. He further said: “The effort is being supported by a team of 50+ volunteers from non-IITK population as well. We sincerely request you all to kindly publicize the website so that we can reach out to a larger community and make a dent in saving lives in the country.”
The website has been launched and currently has more than 850 verified leads. Pertinently, the website has two main features, that is, firstly, individuals get access to “verified” leads regarding Covid resources such as Oxygen Cylinders, ICU beds. Also, the data has been arranged City-wise making the user interface smooth. Secondly, any person can volunteer to upload the data in a verified or unverified manner.
