Mumbai, the financial capital of India, has been witnessing an alarming jump in COVID-19 cases. As one of the measures to curb the increasing numbers, weekend lockdown was announced.
On April 9, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a clarification on the rules related to night curfew and weekend lockdown in the Maharashtra capital to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection.
Here’s a list of things allowed:
— Students are allowed to travel with a guardian to the examination hall. It is mandatory to carry the hall ticket as a permit-able document.
— Home food delivery and deliveries of essential items are permitted while takeaways are restricted. But takeaways from roadside stalls are allowed.
— Maids, cooks, drivers, house help, nurses, and medical attendee who is taking care of old patients are allowed to travel between 7 am to 10 pm on all days, including weekend lockdown.
— Eye clinics and optical shops are allowed to function within the given time frame even under the weekend lockdown.
— Maximum of 50 people is allowed to be part of a wedding and 20 people are allowed for the funeral in the city.
Besides the above mentioned things, everything is closed including, television or movie shoots, Bear and wine shops, privates vehicles, beaches, all shops, markets, malls, etc according to the guidelines issued by the state government.
While there has been no change in Local trains in Mumbai and they would be running as per the ongoing schedule. Ordinary people will be able to travel by first local till 7 am. Then, from 7 am to 12-noon people engaged in essential services would be traveling. Again, the general public would travel from 12 noon to 4 pm and then again from 9 pm till last local. From 4 pm to 9 pm essential services individuals would again be traveling.
