Punjab reported 1,393 cases in the span of 24 hours. Punjab, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu together account for 85.91% of the new cases of the coronavirus infection reported in the country in a span of 24 hours. A total of 22,854 new COVID-19 cases were registered in the country in the said period.
Between February 25 to March 10, Punjab witnessed 12, 221 new covid-19 cases.
The state reported around 17 fatalities in the last 24 hours and 496 recoveries.
Due to the rising covid cases, a high-level team was sent by the union ministry of health and family welfare to discuss the second wave of covid cases in Punjab, according to a report by The Indian Express.
The state has administered more than 3 lakh vaccines combined in Phase 1 and Phase 2. Punjab’s covid tally is at 192,000 with around 5,978 fatalities.
The Union Government has asked the state to increase its efforts towards the immunisation drive by increasing the number of doses administered.
