Self-isolation hotel packages are gaining popularity amid the second wave of Covid-19 infections. The unprecedented healthcare crisis, which has crippled the healthcare system of Asia’s third largest economy, has made people jittery. In the absence of home isolation options, people are turning to hotels to self-isolate themselves as a precautionary measure.
People who want to isolate themselves from a Covid-19 positive family member in the house or those who have inadvertently come into close contact with someone who has tested positive are taking these packages as a precautionary measure.
Documentation
While some hotels just need you to sign the self declaration form for availing the self-isolation package, some are asking for a negative Covid-19 report. Hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, the hospitality sector is witnessing some activity but is unlikely to see pre-Covid levels of business soon.
Cost factor
Hospitality chains like Ginger Hotels, Fab Hotels, Sarovar Hotels and Resorts, Pride Hotels and Lord Hotels and Resorts are offering these services in several cities. A regular package includes internet facility, tea/coffee, laundry and meals among other services. The price of an all meal inclusive package starts from Rs 4,000-5,000 a night for 10-14 days.
Covid-19
Presently, India is not just battling with the rising Covid-19 infections, but also with the shortage of vaccines, medical oxygen supply, ICU beds and remdesivir among others. This means, even if you have monetary strength or adequate insurance, you may not have access to proper medical care. According to Union Health Ministry’s Thursday’s update, India recorded over 3.63 lakh fresh Covid-19 infections.
In the given circumstances, following Covid-19 appropriate behaviour at home and outside is perhaps the only way to save yourself and others from contracting the virus.
