In July this year, the I-T department issued refunds of Rs 43,991 crore to 21.03 lakh tax payers. Out of the total amount, personal income tax refunds tuned up to Rs 13,341 crore and was issued in over 19 lakh cases. Corporate tax refunds was at Rs 30,651 crore and was issued in 1,12,567 cases.
The Income Tax Department has issued refunds worth over Rs 47,318 crore till August 9, to more than 22.61 lakh taxpayers in the current fiscal, it said on Saturday. Out of the total amount refunded, personal income tax comprised of Rs 14,241 crores, and corporate tax refunds amounted to Rs 33,078 crores.
In a tweet on August 14 from the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), it said that the refunds of over Rs 47,318 crores would be issued to more than 22.61 lakh taxpayers between April 1, 2021 and August 9, 2021. It also added that Income tax refunds of Rs 14,241 crores have been issued in more than 21 lakh cases & corporate tax refunds of Rs 33,078 crores have been issued in 1,22, 511 cases.
CBDT issues refunds of over Rs. 47,318 crore to more than 22.61 lakh taxpayers between 1st April, 2021 to 09th August, 2021. Income tax refunds of Rs. 14,241 crore have been issued in 21,38,375 cases & corporate tax refunds of Rs. 33,078 crore have been issued in 1,22,511 cases.

The CBDT has also extended the ITR filing deadline for companies by a month till November 30.
