The Indian automotive industry witnessed a mixed response in the month of October, 2021 as far as sales are concerned. But overall car sales have dipped 22.10% compared to October last year. As per latest data, a total of 2,60,162 cars were sold across the country in October 2021. The figure was 3,33,981 units in October, 2020.
Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia, Honda and Renault registered a decline in their sales last month. On the other hand, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Toyota, Nissan, Volkswagen and Skoda witnessed a rise in numbers.
Despite falling sales, Maruti Suzuki continues to dominate the Indian market with almost 42% market share in the festival month of October, 2021. In fact, the top four positions in the list of best 9 cars sold last month belonged to this brand.
Let’s check the list of top 9 cars in October, 2021 in India:
1) Maruti Alto
Maruti Alto continues to retain its position as the country’s best-selling car for the second straight month. It registered total sales of 17,389 units in October, 2021. This figure was 12,143 units in the month of September.
2) Maruti Baleno
Maruti Baleno grabbed the second position. It reported almost double growth in the monthly sales from 8,077 units in September to 15,573 units in October. In the last month, the Maruti Baleno was spotted in the sixth position.
3) Maruti Ertiga
Maruti Ertiga slipped one place and emerged as the third best-selling model in India in the month of October, 2021 with total sales of 12,923 units, up from 11,308 units in the previous month.
4) Maruti WagonR
Maruti WagonR was the third most sold passenger vehicle in the festival month of October. It has improved its month-on-month performance and moved up from the ninth position. It posted total sales of 12,335 units in October compared to 7,632 units in September.
5) Hyundai Venue
Venue is the only Hyundai car to feature in the top-9 list last month. The fifth place was taken by it with total sales of 10,554 units. In September, Hyundai sold 7,924 units of the Venue SUV.
6) Kia Seltos
Kia Seltos dropped from the third position and emerged as sixth most sold passenger vehicle October with total sales of 10,488 units. But it succeeded in retaining the top selling mid-size SUV position in the list.
7) Maruti EECO
Following Kia Seltos was Maruti’s EECO van. In October, the Manesar-based carmaker sold 10,320 units of EECO vans, up from 7,844 units it sold in the previous month.
8) Tata Nexon
Nexon SUV is the only Tata car to feature in the list of top-9 best selling cars in India in October, 2021. Tata sold 10,096 units of Nexon in the last month.
9) Maruti Swift
One of Maruti’s most popular premium hatchbacks Swift was in the ninth position with total sales of 9,180 units in October, 2021.
