Petrol price on September 1: Check rates in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and other cities

Petrol and diesel prices eased by 10 to 15 paise each on September 1, across the country, state-run oil companies notified. Petrol price in Delhi declined by 15 paise from Rs 101.49 to Rs 101.34 per litre, while diesel also fell by 15 paise from Rs 88.92 to Rs 88.77 per litre. In Mumbai, after the price revision, a litre of petrol will cost Rs 107.39 and diesel Rs 96.33. Currently, fuel prices are highest in Mumbai among all metro cities. In Kolkata, a litre of petrol and diesel prices will be retailed at Rs 101.72 and Rs 91.84, respectively.

Petrol price have already breached Rs 100-mark in major cities. On August 13, the Tamil Nadu government had announced a reduction in the petrol cess by Rs 3 during the budget session. This was done to bring down the skyrocketing prices. The move will cost the state treasury close to Rs 1,160 crore.

Petrol prices have been hiked 41 times in the current fiscal.

Petrol prices in Chennai also declined by 12 paise Rs 99.08, while diesel prices fell by 14 paise to Rs 93.38. In Bengaluru, a litre of petrol will cost Rs 104.84 and diesel Rs 94.19. In Hyderabad, a litre of petrol and diesel will cost Rs 105.40 and Rs 96.84 respectively.

In Vijayawada, petrol price costs Rs 107.21, while diesel price is being retailed at Rs 98.18 respectively. Currently, Vijayawada has the highest fuel prices among all South Indian cities. Petrol and diesel prices in Visakhapatnam were being retailed at Rs 106.35 and Rs 97.33.

Petrol prices have already crossed the Rs 100-mark in more than 20 states and union territories – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha, Manipur, Ladakh, Bihar, Punjab and others. Petrol and diesel prices get revised in India every day at 6 am.
