Speaking about her journey of being one of the very few women traders in early days, Anu Jain, Senior Partner, Head-Equity Brokerage, IIFL Wealth Management, said technology has made things much easier for more women to be able to take up careers in stock markets.
As for women who wish to begin their investment journey, Jain said: “To start with, women can reach out to wealth managers as now even for smaller investments there is help available and one may actually look at starting with paper portfolio.”
She reiterated that making mistakes should not deter anyone from continuing their investment journey as mistakes teach you a lot.
She also believes that investing can help in empowering women financially and the idea is to begin savings and investment journey right with our first pay check.
“There is no right time or the right asset to begin with, what’s more important is to begin investing from day 1 as you start earning”
On market outlook, Jain said that volatility is here to stay however it is the cyclicals that are attracting more focus from here on. Apart from that Jain also said she is bullish on equities as an asset class over the next 3-4 years.
