Aadhaar card: UIDAI discontinued these two services

UIDAI has suspended the service of reprinting the old format of the Aadhaar card that it used to give out earlier.

The theme for Aadhaar Hackathon is centered around two topics which are challenges. To solve them, UIDAI is reaching out to the young minds of all the engineering colleges.

Aadhaar has become one of the most important official identification documents in the country. From EPF to PAN, this 12-digit unique number linking has now become mandatory for operating virtually everything. In recent times, the Aadhaar issuing authority, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a bunch of new services that common people can avail online from the comfort of their home. On the other hand, UIDAI has very recently discontinued two services related to Aadhaar cards. It might cause problems for some people.

Aadhaar card reprint

If you want to reprint your long paper Aadhaar card, you cannot. UIDAI has suspended the service of reprinting the old format of the Aadhaar card that it used to give out earlier. But one can order an Aadhaar PVC card online. According to officials, this new debit-card-sized PVC Aadhaar cards are more portable and effective than old versions. While ordering the PVC Aadhaar card, an individual has to pay Rs 50 including GST and speed post charges.

People who did not link their mobile number with the Aadhaar can also apply for the PVC Aadhar card.

If one wants to keep the Aadhaar in flexible paper format, one can get the printout of e-Aadhaar.

Aadhaar proof validation letter

UIDAI also has stopped the facility of updating addresses in the Aadhaar Card through the validation letter till further notice.

However, one can still update the address by producing a document proof predetermined by the Aadhaar authority. But this step of UIDAI has badly affected those people who do not have any other documents available to change the address.
