All 12 digit numbers are not Aadhar says UIDAI

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI ) has recently said that not all 12 digit numbers can be aadhar as numbers can be fake.

Aadhaar has become one of the most important documents to establish the identity of an individual. It is a 12-digit unique number issued by The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). From bank accounts to Covid-19 vaccines, everything is linked to Aadhaar.

Fake Aadhaar

Recently, local police arrested three persons in Murshidabad district of West Bengal on the charge of making fake Aadhaar cards. This is not the first case and such news have hit headlines in different parts of the country.

UIDAI has issued a caution against such frauds and have said that one must verify Aadhaar before accepting it as an identity proof.

The authorities also said that Aadhaar card online verification is possible in two simple steps through the official website of UIDAI.

“All 12-digit numbers are not Aadhaar. It is recommended that the Aadhaar should be verified before accepting it as identity proof. Click: https://resident.uidai.gov.in/verify  and verify it online in 2 simple steps,” UIDAI twitted.

Enter the 12-digit unique number

Enter the Captcha
Click at the ‘Proceed to Verify’ option.

Authenticity of the 12-digit number will appear on the screen.
