Automobile companies have started up stocking vehicles at their dealerships across India

Encouraged by healthy growth in sales for July, automobile companies have started up stocking vehicles at their dealerships across India ahead of the festive season. The development comes amid the easing of lockdown restrictions by state governments and a declining number of fresh Covid-19 cases.

The four-wheeler segment

The month of June and July were good for carmakers in terms of sales with most of them recording a robust growth on a year-on-year basis. Maruti Suzuki reported sales of 1,33,273 cars, which was up 36.8% compared to July 2020. Hyundai sold 48,042 cars, which was 25.8% higher compared to the same month last year. Creta, Grandi10, and i20 witnessed good sales figures.

Tata Motors recorded more than double growth and secured the third spot in this list. Tata sold 30,185 cars, which is more than double the 15,012 cars it sold in July 2020.
