Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), the locomotive manufacturing factory of Indian Railways, has published a notification for recruitment to the post of apprentice for various trades including fitter, electrician, welder etc. The recruitment drive is being conducted to fill up 492 vacancies in CLW. – Academic qualification: According to notification, candidates must pass matriculation or 10th class in 10+2 examination system or equivalent examination from a government recognised board. They also should have an ITI examination passed certificate recognised by National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) in the notified trades.
– Age limit: Candidates should not be less than 15 years and not more than 24 years of age as on September 15, 2021. Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for reserved category candidates as per government guidelines.
As per the official notification, there will be no written examination or interview or oral examination. Engagement of apprentices will be done on the basis of merit list on the basis of marks obtained in the 10th class examination.

Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) was named after freedom fighter, leader and statesmen Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das. The production started on January 26, 1950, the day when India became a republic. Despite Covid-19 related challenges, Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) has produced 46 locomotives in August 2021, which is a milestone.
