Cinemas, multiplexes and spas in Delhi to reopen from Monday

In a major relief to commuters, the Delhi government on Saturday allowed metro services and public buses to operate with full capacity. Further, independent cinema halls, multiplexes, spas, swimming pools have also been allowed to reopen. While multiplexes can operate only with 50% capacity, spas are required to follow the Covid-19 protocols strictly.

The daily fresh cases and deaths have come to an all time low in Delhi, with the Covid-19 positivity rate below 0.1%, against 2.4% at present across India. Despite the fall in positive cases, the Delhi government does not want to take a chance as it has still put the reopening of schools, colleges and  educational institutions on hold. Similarly, it has also prohibited all political, social and other large gatherings for the time being. However, Business to business exhibitions have been allowed.

Here’s what’s open now

Earlier up to 50 people can attend weddings, while only 20 can attend funerals. But with the fall in cases those numbers have been increased to 100. All other stadia and sports complexes would remain open without spectators.

Spas have to duly comply with the strict protocols put in place, especially therapists who are yet to get the vaccine jabs, should undergo RT-PCR tests every fortnight.

“The owners of the banquet halls, marriage halls, hotels etc. shall be responsible for ensuring strict compliance of Covid Appropriate Behaviour (viz. wearing of masks, maintaining social distancing, regular hand washing and use of sanitizer etc.) to contain the spread of Covid-19 virus,” according to the latest DDMA unlock guidelines.

“In case, any violation is found, strict penal /criminal action shall be taken against the owner of the premises as well as against the individual and the premises shall be sealed forthwith,” the guidelines added.
