India has reported 25,467 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The total recoveries across the country so far are 3,17,20,112. According to the health ministry’s data, 39,486 patients recovered during the last 24 hours.
The active caseload is currently at 3,19,551 with a cumulative total of 3.24 crore cases. The national recovery rate of Covid-19 has increased to 97.68% with 39,486 patients recovering during the last 24 hours till 8:00 am. The active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.98%, lowest since March 2020.
The weekly positivity rate stands at 1.90%, less than 3% for the last 60 days. The daily positivity rate currently stands at 1.55% less than 3% for the last 29 days.
The testing capacity has also been substantially ramped up to 50.93 crores in the country.
Vaccination drive
Cumulative vaccine doses administered so far have reached 58.89 crores.
The vaccination coverage had crossed 58.82 Crore (58,82,21,623) as per the 7 pm provisional report on August 23. The report stated that more than 56 lakh (56,10,116) vaccine doses had been administered. Out of which 39,62,091 were vaccinated for 1st dose and 16,48,025 beneficiaries received 2nd dose of the vaccine as per the provisional report till 7 pm on Monday.
The new phase of universalisation of the vaccination programme commenced from June 21. Under the programme, the central government made inoculation free of cost for all adults. Vaccines were earlier free for people above 45 years of age.
According to the ministry, more than 70% of the deaths that have been reported are due to comorbidities.
