Covid-19: India records 39,070 cases in the last 24 hours

India has reported 39,070 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The total recoveries across the country so far are 3,10,99,771. According to the health ministry’s data, 43,910 patients recovered during the last 24 hours.

The active caseload is currently at 4,06,822 with a cumulative total of 3.19 crore cases. The national recovery rate of Covid-19 has increased to 97.39% with 43,910 patients recovering during the last 24 hours till 8:00 am. The active cases constitute 1.27% of total cases.

The weekly positivity rate stands below 5%, at 2.38%. The daily positivity rate currently stands at 2.27%.

The testing capacity has also been substantially ramped up to 48 crores in the country.

Vaccination drive

Cumulative vaccine doses administered so far have reached 50.68 crores.

The new phase of universalisation of the vaccination programme commenced from June 21. Under the programme, the central government made inoculation free of cost for all adults. Vaccines were earlier free for people above 45 years of age.

The government will procure and supply free of cost 75% of the vaccines being produced by vaccine manufacturers in the country to states /UTs, it said.

More than 70% of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities, according to the ministry.
