Covid-19: India records 41,157 cases; 518 deaths

A spike in active cases was seen in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Kerala, Nagaland and Odisha

India on reported 41,157 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The total recoveries across the country so far are 3,02,27,792. According to the health ministry’s data, 43,916 patients recovered during the last 24 hours.

The active caseload is currently at 4,22,660, with a cumulative total of 3,11,06,065 cases. The national recovery rate of Covid-19 has increased to 97.31% with 42,004 patients recovering during last 24 hours till 8:00 AM.

A spike in active cases was seen in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Kerala, Nagaland and Odisha while  Maharashtra and Kerala were the two states that had reported more than 100 casualties at 124 and 114 respectively.

The weekly positivity rate stands is currently a 2.08%. The daily positivity rate currently stands at 2.13%, less than 3% for 26 consecutive days.

Vaccination drive

Cumulative vaccine doses administered so far have reached 40,49,315, with 51,01,567 shots given in the last 24 hours. The country has conducted 19,36,709 tests during the previous day and the total tests conducted have substantially ramped up to 44.39 crore.

The new phase of universalisation of the vaccination programme commenced from June 21. Under the programme, the central government made inoculation free of cost for all adults. Vaccines were earlier free for people above 45 years of age.

The government will procure and supply free of cost 75% of the vaccines being produced by vaccine manufacturers in the country to states /UTs, it said.
