India has reported 38,164 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The total recoveries across the country so far are 3,03,08,456. According to the health ministry’s data, 38,660 patients recovered during the last 24 hours.
The active caseload is currently at 4,21,665 with a cumulative total of 3,11,44,229 cases. The national recovery rate of Covid-19 has increased to 97.32% with 38,660 patients recovering during the last 24 hours till 8:00 AM.
The weekly positivity rate stands below 5 %, at 2.08%. The daily positivity rate currently stands at 2.61%, less than 3% for 28 consecutive days.
The testing capacity has also been substantially ramped up to 44.54 crores in the country.
Cumulative vaccine doses administered so far have reached 40.64 crores. The fresh fatalities include 180 from Maharashtra and 81 from Kerala. A total of 4,14,108 deaths have been reported so far in the country including 1,27,031 from Maharashtra, 36,157 from Karnataka, 33,724 from Tamil Nadu, 25,027 from Delhi, 22,719 from Uttar Pradesh, 17,999 from West Bengal and 16,233 from Punjab.
The new phase of universalisation of the vaccination programme commenced from June 21. Under the programme, the central government made inoculation free of cost for all adults. Vaccines were earlier free for people above 45 years of age.
The government will procure and supply free of cost 75% of the vaccines being produced by vaccine manufacturers in the country to states /UTs, it said.
More than 70% of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities, according to the ministry.
