The estimates for risk were observed after accounting for differences regarding date of vaccination, age of the participants, socioeconomic status, and other risk factors for Covid-19.
The government is set to launch Covid vaccination app — Co-WIN 2.0 — which will allow people to self register themselves for the vaccination drive, according to a report in The Economic Times.
The decisions was taken during a high-level meeting on February 17.
The third population group — those above 50 years of age and above — can apply for the immunisation programme through this app.
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardan has said the next phase of vaccination drive will begin from March, which will immunise those above 5o.
Currently, the immunisation programme is being conducted for healthcare workers and frontline warriors. Till now, India has covered approx 9.06 million healthcare workers and frontline warriors.
