The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has said that schools in the city would reopen from September 1 in a phased manner, PTI reported on Friday. It added that classes for 9 to 12 grades would begin on the announced date, and for grades 6 to 8, the classes will begin from September 8.
The decision came after a marked improvement in the Covid-19 situation in the national capital, following a brutal second wave of the pandemic which claimed so many lives. In March last year, schools were ordered to close ahead of a nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of the virus.
Also, partial reopening of schools were allowed by the Delhi government for students of class 10 and 12. They were allowed to visit schools for admission-related work, practical activities and counselling sessions.
