Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 1 heaped praises on doctor fraternity on the occasion of National Doctors’ Day.
“The nation is at war with coronavirus. The doctors have worked day and night to save the lives of citizens. Many doctors have even put their lives on the line for the same On behalf of 130 crore Indians, I want to thank all the doctors,” he said.
Modi said this year, the allocation of the budget for the health sector has been more than doubled to over Rs 2 lakh crore and the government has also come up with a Credit Guarantee Scheme of Rs 50,000 crore to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure.
He said despite the problems, India’s condition was better than other developed countries.
“If we document the practical experiences of people fighting Covid-19, it could be useful for the humanity in future,” said Modi.
He also noted that the medical fraternity has done a lot to spread awareness about yoga.
Violence against doctors
Modi said the government took steps to curb violence against doctors.
Boosting health infrastructure
Modi also said that the government has come up with a Credit Guarantee Scheme of Rs 50,000 crore to strengthen the health infrastructure in areas which lack healthcare facilities.
