Railway Recruitment Cell of Eastern Railway has invited applications for recruitment to the post of trade apprentices under Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 for its different workshops and divisions. The recruitment drive is being conducted to fill 3,366 vacancies in various trades. The online application process has started. Through this recruitment process RRC will fill vacancies in different units of Eastern Railways for various trades including fitter, turner, welder and electrician. Candidates can apply for any of the units. Take a look at the unit wise vacancies.

Eligibility criteria
Educational qualification: The candidate must have passed the 10th class examination (under 10+2 examination system) or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks, in aggregate, from a government recognised board and also should possess the National Trade Certificate in the concerned trade issued by NCVT or SCVT.
However, in some trades, the minimum educational qualification is 8th class pass from a recognised school and the National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by NCVT/SCVT. Those trades are as following:
Welder (Gas and Electric)
Sheet Metal Worker
Lineman
Wireman
Carpenter
Painter (General)
Age limit: The candidates should have attained the age of 15 years. The maximum age limit is 24 years as on the last date for receiving application. Relaxation in upper age limit is applicable for reserved category candidates as per government guidelines.
– Medical fitness: A candidate should be free from evidence of any contagious or infectious disease.
Selection process
Selection of candidates will be on the basis of merit. For the trades for which only class 10th pass is the minimum qualification, a separate merit list will be drawn up for candidates eligible taking the average of the percentage marks obtained by the candidates in both matriculation and ITI examination giving equal weightage to both.
On the other hand, for the trades for which class 8th pass is the minimum qualification, the merit list would be prepared for all eligible candidates based on the average marks obtained both in class 8th standard and ITI examination.
