The constant uncertainty about the covid-19 outbreak has triggered a lot of anxiety among the masses. News of shortage of Oxygen cylinders and ICU beds doing rounds on social media which has successfully created consternation seems to have no end. 

While the panic is real, there are also a few positive things happening around us during these grim times. Starting with, 31,47,782 people getting vaccinated a day before. Apart from the numbers, there is much more happening that makes us hopeful of things getting better.

Kerala and Odisha offer help to states with Oxygen supply

Amid the mayhem caused by oxygen shortage in many states due to the surge of Covid-19 cases, states like Kerala and Odisha, which have enough oxygen supply, have come forward to help other states in such grim times. As per an IndiaTimes report, Kerala facilitated 20,000 litres of liquid oxygen to Goa. Even Naveen Patnaik, CM of Odisha, assured Delhi of complete support in facilitating the transportation of Delhi’s quota of Oxygen from Odisha, as per a tweet by Arvind Kejriwal.

Amid the negative times when people have almost lost all hope, young individuals are doing their bit to help those in need. You must have seen your Social Media account filled with SOS messages. But isn’t it great that people are helping strangers by amplifying their tweets or posts? It is definitely a ray of hope during such harsh times.

A Vegetable seller offers his salary to help poor covid patients

Dr Snehil Mishra, a Mumbai-based Cardiologist, shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat on his Twitter where his patient, who is apparently a vegetable seller offered to contribute his salary to help those covid patients who cannot afford expensive medical facilities. He tweeted, “My patient is a vegetable seller. This message is from his son. I was at a loss of words. These are the real heroes..”

Citizens offering free tiffin services to covid patients who are isolating alone at home

Surbhi Gupta, a resident of Delhi tweeted, “Any #Covid patient in #VasantKunj who needs help with food or medicines or anything else, please let me know.” Like her, there are several such samaritans that are offering free healthy food either free of cost or at minimal rates.

Ghaziabad-based Gurudwara started Oxygen Langars to help Covid patients

Amid the Covid crisis, a gurudwara in Indirapuram has come out to help the covid patients with severe respiratory issues. It is a joint initiative by Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurudwara and Khalsa Help International NGO. Arrangements were also made to provide oxygen support to patients who were severely ill and unable to come out of their cars. Aparna Jain, an executive leadership coach tweeted, “How innovative is this. Oxygen Langars. *Gurudwara #Indirapuram Delhi* has started Oxygen Langar. Any patient who needs them can go there in the car and they will provide oxygen at the venue. Their helpline number is 9097041313.”
