Want to get your gadgets repaired immediately, but fear losing their warranty? Worry not! The Ministry of Consumer Affairs (MCA) recently went live with the Right to Repair portal, which allows you to get your devices repaired at the nearest center, minus any hassles. Read on to know all about it:
What is right to repair?
Under this, the government intends to let users prolong the effective lives of their gadgets by letting them access authentic repair options, both from original and/or other third-party service providers. The idea is to allow everyone to easily and quickly avail repair services at best prices, instead of replacing it with a similar new product.
So, what can I get repaired through this portal?
Currently, there are four active categories, namely: Consumer durables (AC, fridge, washing machine), electronic devices (TV, phone, tablets, laptop), automobiles (EVs, 2/3 wheelers) and farm equipment.
What will this portal offer?
You can access the following information about the gadgets from this portal :
Self-repair and maintenance manuals
Product warranty, terms and conditions and other post-sales service details
Authorized and third party repairers in your vicinity
Customer care contact details for various brands and products
Brands registered
To start with, more than 10 prominent brands like Apple, LG, BoAt, Panasonic, Hero, Realme have registered on the portal to provide services
How is this distinct?
Think of it as a one-stop solution to get all warranty, repair and replacement information about all your gadgets. In the event of your phone or AC breaking down, you don’t have to visit your smartphone’s and air conditioner’s websites separately to seek information about repair services.
Moreover, it helps you overcome exclusive dependence on only original manufacturers for repair purposes. Often, they tend to cancel out a product’s warranty because they assume a third-party repair might have caused more damage to the product. Not anymore. If you are in a hurry, you can get your repairs done via other authorized repairers as well, without voiding your existing warranty.
