According to a report, hiring demand increased by 1% sequentially on account of rising online sales, led by printing and packaging, followed by BPO and ITeS, and import and export. In comparison with August, September saw a stable monthly growth of 1% in job posting activity this year, according to the Monster Employment Index by Monster.com, a Quess company. Meanwhile, job postings improved by 9% YoY in September 2021, as compared to the same month in 2020, indicating an optimistic outlook.
It added that hiring demand for printing and packaging increased by 11% sequentially due to rising online sales, followed by uptick in industries such as BPO/ITeS (5%), import and export (4%), retail (2%) and travel and tourism (2%) in September 2021.
Further, data from Index indicated that in the last six months, that hiring demand rose by 8%, even with the impact of the second wave of the pandemic.
As compared to the previous month, Baroda (3%), Ahmedabad (1%), and Delhi-NCR (1%) witnessed a positive uptick in job posting activity in September 2021, as per location data.
But, hiring in most metro cities showed a decline on a monthly basis including Kolkata (-4%), Chennai (-4%), Bengaluru (-3%), Pune (-2%), Hyderabad (-2%) and Mumbai (-1%), in n contrast to their performance over the past few months, the report said.
This trend could be on the rationale of back-to-office trends and remote working preferences of the workforce, it said.
