Indian Railways to launch Vistadome tourist special train in West Bengal's Dooars

The cost of the tickets will be around Rs 900 for a one-way trip between New Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar Junction.

The special train comes with a glass roof which will provide a 360 degree view of the open sky, greenery, bridge, hills and mountain to the tourists.

To give passengers a scenic view of the lush green Dooars, Indian Railways is going to launch a Vistadome tourist special train service in West Bengal. Starting from August 28, the special trains will run between New Jalpaiguri-Alipurduar-New Jalpaiguri, according to NorthEast Frontier Railway (NFR). The train will run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It will start at 7:20 am in the morning from New Jalpaiguri and reach Alipurduar at 1:00 pm. The same train would leave from Alipurduar at 2:00 pm and reach New Jalpaiguri at 7:00 pm, according to a report in the Mint.

The special train comes with a glass roof which will provide a 360-degree view of the open sky, greenery, bridge, hills and mountain to the tourists. It will also be equipped with automatic sliding doors, WiFi and a display screen for passenger entertainment.

Fares for the special train.

The cost of the tickets will be around Rs 900 for a one-way trip between New Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar Junction. For A/C chair car the fare will be Rs 410 and for non-A/C chair car, it will be Rs 85. Passengers can book their tickets through PRS or IRCTC website.

Indian Railways, on Independence day, had added another Vistadome train coach on the iconic Deccan Queen Superfast Express that runs between Mumbai and Pune. This was the second Vistadome coach launched on this route. The first coach on this route was introduced by Deccan Express Special on June 26.
