Under the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiative, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism (IRCTC) will launch a special tourist train for exploring five north eastern states. The initiative is part of a joint project called Bharat-Darshan between Indian Railways and Ministry of Tourism and Culture, whose purpose is to introduce the culture of different parts of the country to those who are deprived of tourism due to any reason.
The 14 nights and 15 days journey by train which starts from Delhi’s Safdarjung railway station will cover five prominent states in northeastern states like Guwahati, Kaziranga, and jorhat in Assam, Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh, Kohima in Nagaland, Una Koti, Agartala and Udaipur in Tripura, Shillong and Cherapunji in Meghalaya.
Prices for the tour start from Rs 85,495 per person for a 2nd A/C and Rs 1,02,430 per person for 1st A/C, according to IRCTC. Based on the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Finance, government and Public Sector Units (PSU) employees can avail Leave Travel Concession (LTC) facility on this tour.
Deluxe facilities like delicious food, a tour of tourist spots by air-conditioned busses, accommodation in deluxe hotels, a guide and insurance among others.
During the entire journey, the IRCTC team will take care of all the protocols related to hygiene and health, and ensure a safe and a worry free experience by maintaining social distancing at all times.
Passengers must take both the Covid vaccine doses to book this journey. They can board this train at Delhi’s Safdarjung, Ghaziabad, Tundla, Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi and Patna railway stations. The train will depart from Delhi’s Safdarjung station on November 26th.
