The cost of domestic cooking gas – Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) – has shot up in the past few months. However, there is some good news for customers. From April 2021, Indian Oil Limited has reduced the price of domestic LPG cylinders by Rs 10. Hence, the cost of 1 LPG cylinder (14.2 kg) in Delhi and Mumbai, after deduction, is Rs 809.
Taking a cue from the revised rates, digital payments giant Paytm rolled a special ‘first time’ offer for its customers which allows you to buy the cooking gas cylinder for as little as Rs 9 only!
The fintech company has started a cashback offer, under which if you book a gas cylinder at Rs 809, you can get a cashback of up to Rs 800. This offer of is available till April 30, 2021. That means, you can take advantage of the scheme throughout this month.
But there are a few conditions that one must adhere to in order to avail benefits of this scheme.
The offer is only valid for customers who will book and pay for the LPG cylinder for the first time through Paytm app. Under the scheme, when you book and pay for the cylinder, you will get a scratch card with a cashback value up to Rs 800. This offer will automatically apply to your first LPG booking.
There is a condition that this offer will be applicable only on payment of at least Rs 500. The cashback amount, however, can range between Rs 10 to Rs 800. You will have to open this scratch card within seven days to avail benefits.
If you’re eligible for the mammoth cashback, login to your paytm account and click on ‘Show More’ option. Then, click on ‘Recharge & Pay Bills’, a pop up ‘Book A Cylinder’ will appear. Select your gas provider and before making the payment, don’t forget to enter the promo code – FIRSTLPG. Finish the payment and use the scratch card to avail your cashback within next 7 days.
The price of LPG cylinders, which is revised on a monthly basis, depends mainly on two broad factors – exchange rate of dollar-rupee and international rate for LPG. Soon after international oil prices fell amid a spike in Covid-19 cases, it reflected an impact on the cost of cooking gas cylinders in the domestic markets as well.
“Due to growing worries about rising Covid-19 cases in Europe and Asia and concerns over the side effects of the vaccine, prices of crude oil and petroleum product in the international market softened in the second fortnight of March 2021,” Indian Oil Corporation was quoted in a report by Mint.
The Indian government provides 12 cylinders to each household at subsidized rates annually under the PAHAL scheme.
