No further extension to driving licence validity, documents after Oct 31: Centre

For documents that were due to expire on February 1, 2020, the validity extension has been in effect at present.

The road transport ministry announced that expired car and driver-related documentation such as driving licences (DL), registration certificates (RC), permits, and fitness certifications will not be extended beyond October 31, according to a report in The Economic Times.

For documents that were due to expire on February 1, 2020, the validity extension has been in effect at present. The ministry noted that a clarification saying that this is the final such extension, and the central government will not grant any more extensions in this regard.

It also informed that whether states or UTs inform such extensions for another term, those who have expired transport documents may face consequences if they are detected outside of that state/UT, as there is no national notification.
