The government has not made any changes in the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme. Farmers had expectations from this time’s budget as it is an election budget and the government could have increased the amount received under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana to woo the farmer voters.
Farmers face disappointment:
Farmers have been left disappointed with this budget. The government has neither increased the payment for farmers under this scheme nor has talked about adding additional farmers. Not only this, women farmers also had great expectations from this budget but no additional amount has been allocated to them in this budget. After this it is believed that the number of beneficiaries under this scheme may decrease.
At present, 11 crore farmers across the country get Rs 6,000 annually under this scheme, but in this budget it was expected that this amount could be increased to Rs 9,000 for male farmers, while the Samman Nidhi for women farmers would be doubled to Rs 12,000. Farmers also hoped that the government would give priority in giving Kisan Credit Cards to women farmers and women farmers would get 1% cheaper loans than others.
No announcement on stubble management
Along with a life insurance scheme at affordable rates for farmers, special incentives for stubble management were also expected. But farmers have been disappointed on all these fronts. It is noteworthy that under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, for financial help to the farmers, the government sends three installments of Rs 2,000 each i.e. Rs 6,000 annually to the accounts of the farmers.
