The covid-19 pandemic has disrupted the media and entertainment industry in a big way. Many major films could not have a theatrical release due to covid-19. With people forced to stay at home, the OTT platforms saw an increase in subscriptions.

While there is no dearth of the content of various types and genres on these platforms, a recent inclination of OTTs to release more content based on stock scams, financial fraud, white-collar corruption, and billionaire community has created a new favourite genre among the audience.

This genre has surely stood out among others, especially with the success of Scam 1992. In 2020 the series based on Harshad Mehta ruled the OTT space and created a huge fan base.

In 2020, Netflix reported that viewing for non-fiction series on Netflix in India grew more than 250% than in 2019. Documentary viewing also grew more than 100% in 2020 over 2019.
