Petrol, diesel price unchanged for 6th straight day: check rates in top 10 cities

The prices were last reduced on April 15, when petrol became cheaper by 16 paise and diesel by 14 paise

There has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel from the government oil companies for the 6th consecutive day today.

Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged on April 21 for the 6th consecutive day. The prices were last reduced on April 15, when petrol became cheaper by 16 paise and diesel by 14 paise.

Today, a litre of petrol in Delhi would cost you Rs 90.40, while diesel would cost Rs 80.73. In Mumbai, petrol is being retailed at Rs 96.83 per litre and diesel at Rs 87.81. The fuel prices in Chennai and Kolkata stood at Rs 92.43 and Rs 90.62 per litre respectively, while, diesel prices stood at Rs 85.75 and Rs 83.61 per litre, respectively.

Fuel prices differ from state to state as taxes get levied on petrol and diesel by both central as well as state governments along with the freight charges.

Prices change every morning

Revision in petrol and diesel prices is applied every day at 6 :00 am by the oil marketing companies. The price gets almost doubled after adding excise duty, dealer commission and other things. Petrol and diesel prices change daily, depending on the crude prices in the international market.

How to check the price in your city

You can get the price of petrol and diesel through SMS. According to the Indian Oil website, you have to write the RSP and your city code and send it to the number 9224992249. The code for each city is different, which you will get from the IOCL website.
