Petrol prices have already crossed the Rs 100-mark in more than 20 states and union territories - Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha, Manipur, Ladakh, Bihar, Punjab and others. Petrol and diesel prices get revised in India every day at 6 am.
Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged for 11th straight day on April 26. Today, In Delhi, a litre of petrol will cost you Rs 90.40 and diesel Rs 80.73. In Mumbai, petrol price stood steady at Rs 96.83 per litre, diesel at Rs 87.81 per litre.
The petrol price in Chennai and Kolkata stood at Rs 92.43 and Rs 90.62 per litre respectively, while diesel stood at Rs 85.75 and Rs 83.61 per litre respectively.
Fuel prices were last revised on April 15, when petrol became cheaper by 16 paise and diesel by 14 paise.

Fuel prices differ from state to state as taxes get levied on them by both central as well as state governments along with the freight charges. These taxes make up for 60 per cent of the retail selling price of petrol and over 54 per cent of diesel. Centre levies Rs 32.90 per litre of excise duty on petrol and Rs 31.80 a litre on diesel.
Prices change every morning
Revision in petrol and diesel prices comes into effect every day at 6:00 am. The price gets almost doubled after adding excise duty, dealer commission and other things. Petrol and diesel prices change daily, depending on the crude prices in the international market.
