Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the medical fraternity on the occasion of National Doctors’ Day on Thursday. The event is being organised by the Indian Medical Association (IMA).
The Doctors’ Day is observed in the honour of noted doctor and former West Bengal chief minister Bidhan Chandra Roy, whose birth and death anniversaries fall on July 1.
With the medical community playing a lead role in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, the prime minister has been in praise for doctors and other medical professionals.

-When India is fighting a battle against Covid, the doctors have saved lakhs of lives. Several doctors have even sacrificed themselves in their tireless efforts.

-We have come up with a Credit Guarantee Scheme of Rs 50,000 crores to strengthen the health infrastructure in such areas, where there is a lack of health facilities, says PM Narendra Modi
-This year too, the budgeted allocation for health has more than doubled to over Rs 2 lakh crore.
-During the first wave, the Centre had allocated 15,000 crores as a special fund to increase the health infrastructure in the nation.
-We are thankful to doctors and healthcare workers for their service, and hence we have brought and enhanced laws for their protection too.
